Loren "Larry" W. POWELL

POWELL, Loren "Larry" W. - age 87, of Flint and Alpena, died Thursday, November 14, 2013. Services will be held 12 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Monday and 10 AM until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Stroke Association. Mr. Powell was born September 30, 1926 in Detroit, the son of Paul and Kathleen (Niergarth) Powell. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He owned Powell Insurance Agency for 50 years and was an avid outdoor sportsman and golfer. He was a past president of Spring Meadows Country Club. Larry enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren. Surviving are: wife of 62 years, Donna; three children, Craig Powell of GA, Lynn (Phil) Kieliszewski of Alpena and Thane Powell of Grand Blanc; three grandchildren, Katie, Matthew and Loren; brother, Dan (Doris) Powell; sister, Mary Kay (Marc) Griswold; brother-in-law, Lee (Linda) Jenson and many cherished relatives and friends.
