Machel Ann Kowalewski (Rosebohm), 1954-2025
Machel Kowalewski passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 70. She was a force of warmth and joy—loving, kind, silly, exuberant, and endlessly thoughtful. She gave with her whole heart, and her love language was gifts—not grand gestures, but the small, perfect things that showed she truly listened. She remembered the colors you loved, the little trinkets that made you smile, and the moments that mattered.
She was born in Texas and carried her love for her home state with her always—especially for her family there. She was a proud supporter of the University of Texas, cheering on the Longhorns with spirit. Hook 'em Horns!
Machel grew up in Michigan and graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1973. Legend has it, she once competed in a winter pageant—a fitting reflection of her vibrant spirit and love for bringing joy to those around her.
On November 8, 1975, she married Paul Kowalewski at Zion Lutheran Church. Their nearly 50-year marriage was filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering love. This year would have marked their golden anniversary—a testament to their enduring partnership.
She took every role in life seriously—her family, her friendships, her passions. Whether organizing the best karaoke nights, being the most dedicated bowling league secretary, or simply making sure everyone around her felt seen and valued, Machel poured her heart into everything she did.
She was a maker of memories, a creator of magic. Every birthday, holiday, or simple night out became an occasion in her hands, filled with laughter and a little extra sparkle. She carried that same energy into every part of her life—whether as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished sister and aunt, or a dear friend who could turn strangers into confidants in an instant.
Machel is survived by her husband, Paul Kowalewski; her son, Nicholas Kowalewski; her daughter, Courtney Prout (Nathan); her sister, Charice Baughman (Alan); and her nephews, James Davis, Christopher Baughman, and Samuel Baughman. She was a guiding presence to many, offering kindness, support, and unwavering encouragement to those who needed it.
To be loved by Machel was to be known in the most special way. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt.
