BERTA, Mamie Ann - Age 86, of Fenton, died Thursday, January 26, 2017. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N Adelaide St., Fenton. Interment to follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10 AM until the time of Mass on Wednesday at church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Monastery of the Poor Clare's, C/O Mother M. Pia 3501 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland, OH 44111-2998 www.pcc-cle.org Mamie was born March 20, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of Carmelo and Jennie V. (Trigilio) Patania. She was married to Elmer Berta on April 29, 1950, in Detroit, they were married 47 years and they shared the same birthday; he preceded her in death October 17, 1997. Elmer built the houses they lived in and Mamie turned them into homes. Mamie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton. Mamie had a deep faith in God, she loved her family dearly. She was a kind, loving soul and loved by so many. Even in her troubled times, her kindness always showed through. She is survived by: 3 children, Jerry (Madeline) Berta of Rockford, Richard (Peggy) Berta of Rockford, and Mary (Ed) Powell of Fenton; 8 grandchildren, Deanna Ralbusky (Brad Caruso), Adam Powell, Amy (Brian) Bengtson, Zachory (Jessie) Berta-Thompson, Richard (Brandi) Berta, Maggie Berta, Nicole (Russ) Kornoelje, and Julie Berta; 7 great grandchildren; Marcus, Jackson, Carson, Claire, Ellie, David and Lexie; loving brother, Jim V. Patania; special sisters-in-law, Lea Berta and Patrina Patania; many nieces, nephews; dear friends; and many wonderful cousins, especially Mother M. Pia of the Monastery of the Poor Clare's. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two loving brothers, Thomas and Joseph Patania; dear, sweet Aunt Josephine (Trigilio) Terzo.
