Margaret M. BACKUS

BACKUS, Margaret M. - age 87, of Davison, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Kelly Manor in Davison. Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans. Mrs. Backus was born October 30, 1925 in Goodrich, the daughter of William S. and Edith M. (Bauss) Plumb. She married Wilbur H. Backus on February 7, 1948 and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2008. Mrs. Backus retired from Davison Public Schools after 19 years of service. Surviving are: five children, Janet (Ron) Russ of Fallon, NV, William (Nancy) Backus of Davison, Barbara (Patrick) Harvey of Columbiaville, Margaret (David) Stone of St. Charles, MO, Bradley (Kim) Backus of Davison; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marguerite Plumb. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Arnold and Leo Plumb. The family extends a special thank you to Diane and Coralee at Kelly Manor and Grace Hospice.
