Margaret Irene Kildee, age 91, of Flushing, passed away peacefully at her home on January 29, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. Brian Lenz celebrant. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities for the North End Soup Kitchen.
Margaret was born on August 21, 1934, in Flint, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Mildred I. (Peters) Maxwell. She was a 1952 graduate of Dye High School. On September 25, 1955, she married the love of her life, D. Jack Kildee, in Flint, beginning nearly 60 years of marriage.
Margaret dedicated 26 years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother. When her children were grown, she returned to the workforce, first at Victoria’s Secret and later at The Children’s Place in Genesee Valley Mall, where she worked until retiring at the age of 76. She generously volunteered for many years in her children’s schools and at church and was an active member of a Bible study group whose members became her cherished friends.
Margaret lived a life deeply rooted in love. Love for her family, her faith, and her community.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Sarah), Dan (Jennifer), Maureen (Steven), Jacqueline (John), and Bridget (Daithi); 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Ed (Jill) Maxwell; sister-in-law, Glenna Maxwell; many nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Patti Bergstrom, and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her children, Timothy Edward and Colleen Marie; grandson, Fionn Kildee-Doolan; great-granddaughter, Addison Waggoner; and sister, Evelyn Murphy; brother, Arthur Maxwell.
