Marian J. Granger, age 97, lifetime resident of Swartz Creek, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. Visitation will be held at 4pm - 8pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes- Miller Road Chapel. Visitation will resume the following day at 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Home - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Marian was born on September 17, 1927, in Gaines, Michigan to the late Edmund & Ruth Shaw. She attended Swartz Creek High School. Marian married the love of her life, Roland Eli Granger, on November 27, 1946. Marian was a friend of Roland's sister, Evelyn. Upon Roland's return from WWII, he took them both to a barn dance in Swartz Creek. They both enjoyed square dancing and continued to do so throughout their marriage. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1998. Together they were blessed with their four children: Ann Marie, Rosemary, David and Donna. In the passing of her husband, Marian made many trips with the Senior Center in Swartz Creek. Her favorite trips were going to the casinos.
During the early years, Marian and her family would take summer trips to a cabin on Houghton Lake. Eventually, they bought a travel trailer and enjoyed camping at different sites. In later years, Marian did jigsaw puzzles while listening to Detroit Tiger games and kept her nose in a book.
Marian is survived by two children, David (Ginger) Granger and Donna (William) Swagert; 12 grandchildren: Donald (Tina) Albrecht, Chad (Kimberly) Granger, Karl Bacon, Angela (Andrew) Mason, Jeff Albrecht, Jason Ball, Brian Bacon, Leslie Ball, Amber Granger, Jeremy Ball, Morgan Swagert, and Megan Swagert; and 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to Marian's parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; daughters, Ann Marie Bacon and Rosemary Ball; great-grandson, Kevin Bacon; sister, Virginia (Floyd) Eller, and infant brother, Arnold Shaw.
