SMITH, Marie Anna - age 94, of Fenton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 12, 2015. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 5-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 10 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Reverence Hospice. Mrs. Smith was born September 28, 1920 in Flint, the daughter of John Peter and Flossie Mae (Rhodes) Lucke. She married Jack Charles Smith in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1965. Mrs. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. She was a retired school teacher, teaching at St. John Catholic School and the Fenton Public School System. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Fenton American Legion Auxiliary #34 and the WAVES (Women of Sea Service). She was an avid reader and seamstress. Surviving are: three children, Marie Frances (Daniel) Heronen of CA, Jacque' (Jim) Brown of Flint, John Charles Smith of Flint; two grandchildren, Donna Marie Heronen and Elizabeth (John) Rowins; three step-grandchildren, April Brown, Holly Brown and James (Shar-Lett) Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Bryce, and Savannah Eckart, Regan, Brian, Erin and Jack Rowins; four step great-grandchildren, Ian McDonald, Zack, Arionnah, and Aiden Brown; sister-in-law, Mary Lucke.
