ORBAN, Marilyn Jeannette - Age 86, of Flint, died Sunday, February 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint. Reverend Paul Ytterock officiating. The family will greet friends 10 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be held 2 PM - 8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church or American Diabetes Association. Marilyn was born in Cassopolis, Michigan on December 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Leslie C. and Elsie A. (Bent) Brown. She married Charles Orban on February 12, 1955 in Marcellus, Michigan, he preceded her in death on December 17, 1972. Marilyn was a world wide traveler, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She began her teaching career at Flint Central High School in the fall of 1953. Marilyn retired in June 1992 from the Atherton School District as a teacher with 31 years of service. She earned her BS degree and Masters in Home Economics from Western Michigan University. Marilyn was very active at First Presbyterian Church in Flint, a member there for 42 years and enjoyed participating in the women's choir, served as a deacon, and an elder. She was also a member and former secretary of Michigan Education Association (MEA), member, former secretary and treasurer of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP), PEO (sorority) Grand Blanc Senior Center, was a volunteer with Hurley Auxiliary and an active member of Flintstones Camping Club. Surviving are: children, Charlene (Edward) Wilson of Grand Blanc, Linda Rock of Traverse City, Nancy (Darren) Villarreal of Holly; grandchildren, Jason and Tim Wilson, Samantha Rock, Grant and Todd Villarreal; great grandchildren, Joshua and Kamden. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Dorothy Brown of Portage and Judy Brown of Ithaca and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Carroll Brown. Her daughters would like to express their deepest gratitude for the wonderful hospice care she received at the Genesee Care Center of Grand Blanc.
