Born May 14, 1932, Marlene DeWitt was the cherished daughter of Blake and Rita (Bargerstock) Carpenter. She spent her early years in Copemish, Michigan, before moving to Flint at the age of 16. A proud graduate of Flint Central High School, Marlene soon after married the love of her life, Charles A. DeWitt, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love and faith.
Marlene dedicated her professional life to General Motors, retiring in August 1988 as the Executive Secretary to the Personnel Director at Fisher Body.
For more than 50 years, Marlene was a faithful and active member of Dexter Street Gospel Chapel in Flint. More than her decades of service, it was her deep devotion to Jesus Christ that defined her life. She walked closely with the Lord, living each day as a testament to His love, compassion, and guidance.
Marlene was the heart of her family-a steady, loving presence who always made time to listen, encourage, and show up. Whether she was cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines or making the long drive to Upper Peninsula Bible Camp, her devotion never wavered. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and selfless love will live on in the lives of all who knew her.
Surviving are: her daughter, Cynthia (Stephen) Rivette; daughter in law, Candice DeWitt; grandchildren, Alexandra (Kenneth) Coleman, Christina (Timothy) MacDonald, Gabrielle (Tyler) Beatty, Doni (Peter) Guertin, Elizabeth (Justin) Klimkiewicz, Charles (Remi) DeWitt; 17 great grandchildren; and sister, Joan Mumby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles DeWitt; son Blake DeWitt; sister, Beverly Smith; brother Kenneth Carpenter; grandson, David Johnson; and great grandson, Oliver Klimkiewicz. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
