Marsha J. Block
August 31, 1949 – May 22, 2025
Marsha J. Block, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Marjorie Wilson, Marsha dedicated her life to caring for others. A proud graduate of Schoolcraft College, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 40 years. Known for her compassion, dedication, and no-nonsense approach to life, Marsha was truly one of a kind and touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marjorie Wilson, and her sisters Suzanne and Christine. She is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne “Suziey” Block of Pasadena, California; her sister, Jodie Wallunas of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brother, Joseph Wilson (Mary) of Haslett, Michigan; her brother-in-law, John Zapalowski of Livonia, Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Marsha will be remembered for her endless energy, fierce independence, and her deep willingness to help everyone she knew. Although gentle in thought and generous in spirit, she was a “go get ’em” woman who didn’t believe in sitting still. She showed up—with strength, grit, and a wicked sense of humor.
She loved spending time with her sister Jodie at her cabin in Ludington, relaxing in nature and sharing stories. She also cherished adventures with her daughter Suziey—especially discovering new places to enjoy a good bite to eat and a well-deserved drink. Marsha found joy in the simple pleasures of life: wine tasting outings, decorating for every holiday with unmatched enthusiasm, and curling up to watch Hallmark movies, which she loved year-round.
She had a playful spirit and enjoyed board games, movie nights (especially if her daughter was starring in them), and making the people around her laugh. Her presence filled every room she entered, and her legacy of love and determination will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00pm. Please email Suziey Block at sblock33@hotmail.com for address information details.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, which will go toward establishing a nursing scholarship in Marsha’s name. A fitting tribute to her lifelong dedication to the art of caring for others.
