Marthalee Ann “Marty” Antell, age 86, of Flushing, formerly of Flint, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Symphony Linden Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 23, 1939, in Jackson, Michigan, to Fredrick C. and Mary Grace (Anderson) Taylor, Marty lived a life defined by compassion, curiosity, and dedication to those she loved.
A proud graduate of Jackson High School, Marty continually sought new challenges and personal growth. Once her youngest child began school, she pursued a nursing degree, fulfilling her long-held dream of helping others. Marty went on to serve as a nurse at McLaren Hospital in Flint for over 25 years, where her kindness, skill, and empathy touched countless lives.
Marty had a deep love for travel, time spent with family, and joyful moments with her close circle of lifelong friends—fondly known as “the COWS.” She was also an avid Elvis Presley fan.
In 1971, Marty married Dr. Richard Antell in Jacksen, Michigan. Together, they shared many adventures, traveling across the country to visit their children and grandchildren. They remained devoted companions for 43 years, until Richard’s passing in 2014.
Marty is survived by her beloved children, Janet Rogers of Oregon, Tim (Marilu) Doty of California, Kenneth Antell of Oregon, Robert Antell of Florida, Shawn Doty of Michigan, and Jeff Antell of Michigan. She was the cherished sister of Karen Herzberg-Hopson of Horton, Michigan, and Linda McHenry of Jackson, Michigan. Marty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. Richard Antell, and her son Brian Doty.
A devoted grandmother, Marty leaves behind a legacy of love in her 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Per Marty’s wishes no formal services will be held.
