Martina Sargent

Sargent, Martina Mary - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away quietly with her loving family October 10, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, October 14 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek, with a Rosary at 7 PM. Visitation from 10 AM until time of Mass Saturday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to The Alzheimer's Association. Martina was born on January 18, 1932, in Flint, the daughter of Tirso and Tomasa (Hernandez) Perez. She married Delbert Sargent on June 30, 1951 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2006. Mrs. Sargent worked for General Motors (AC) for ten years. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 25 years. Her family was the most important part of her life and she loved spending time with her grandchildren at the lake. She loved to play cards and go to the casino. She was an avid baker and loved to cook for the family. She enjoyed walking for exercise. Surviving are children, Delbert D. (Mary), Taryn, Duane (Darlene), Dennis (Jane), Timothy (Laurie), and Marcia; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Belen and Mary Ellen; brother, Frank; sister-in-law, Carolyn, numerous nieces and nephews.
