Mary Copeny

Copeny, Mary Hazel - Age 98, of Flint, died January 19, 2019. Funeral services will be held 10:30AM Monday January 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location Hill Creek Church 5363 Hill Rd. Swartz Creek, (Mundy Township). Pastor Steve Hawkins officiating. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 4-8PM Sunday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army. Mary was born May 31, 1920 in Johnson City, TN. the daughter of John Wesley and Willie Beatrice (Jones) Young Sr. She married John William Copeny Sr. in Johnson City, TN. Mary was a housekeeper for St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of El Shaddai Mins C.O.G.I.C, where she served on the usher board. Mary enjoyed loving her children, crocheting, crossword puzzles, cooking and scrapbooking. She was very artistic. Mary is survived by her 5 children: John ( wife Melva Jean-deceased) Copeny Jr., Carol (Stephen) Giles, Gail Copeny, Gary (wife Fe-deceased) Copeny, Larry (Margaret) Copeny; grandchildren: Patricia Copeny, Teresa Copeny, John Copeny III, and Felicia Copeny, Charlene (Toma) Lightfoot, Gregina (Curtis) Towner, Jabari (Nikki) Giles, De' Andre Copeny, Gregory Copeny Jr., Jnarius (Shelenna) Copeny, Ceasare Copeny, Tanyanika Gibbs, Kendra Watson; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends; sister: Barbara J. Watterson (Richard); special friends: Bobby Coleman, Marjorie Watson, Rita Bowie, Brenda Watson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: John William Copeny Sr.; son, Gregory Copeny Sr.; sister: Emma Chiles; brothers: John Young Jr., Harold Young; niece: Marcina Love and nephew Jerry Chiles.
