Mary Jane Meier

Mary Jane Meier, of Flint, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Wellbridge of Grand Blanc. She was 78 years old.

Born on October 29, 1947, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Louis and Verna Eder. Mary Jane grew up in Sandusky, Michigan and met and married her husband of almost 55 years Gerald E. Meier, on June 26, 1971, in Sandusky. Mary Jane was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church for 55 years. She loved to travel, was a great cook and loved baking and making cookies and other treats. Mary Jane loved children and for several years had and in-home daycare that she operated as well as worked part time at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she worked in childcare.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband Gerald Meier, her daughter Kristine Durr and her husband Larry; one grandson Jonathan Durr; one granddaughter Layla Meier as well as a niece Paula and a nephew Steve.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Brian Meier.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00 am at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 6330 Corunna Rd., Flint, MI 48532. Interment will follow in Byron Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 4:00-7:00pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, as well as from 10:00am until time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
