Mary Elizabeth Nordin

NORDIN, Mary Elizabeth- age 83, of Fenton, passed away, June 29, 2026. Memorial Service 11:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel 1000 Silver lake Road, Fenton. Visitation 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions would be appreciated to New Century Chorale; newcenturychorale.org.

Mary was born on February 12, 1943, the daughter of Robert Allan and Bertha Fiser (Hays) Younkin. She was raised in Bowling Green, OH and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1961. Mary later graduated from Bowling Green State University and received her master's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University. She married Robert "Bob" Nordin in Flint, MI on March 21, 1970. Mary taught U.S. History and Government at Grand Blanc High School for 30 years, retiring in 1998. She and Bob were members of the New Century Chorale in Grand Blanc for 20 plus years. Mary raised, trained and showed Arabian Horses for many years. She and Bob loved wintering in the Tampa, FL area. They also traveled the country extensively during school summers and especially during their retirement years. Mary truly enjoyed cheering on her daughter, Kathryn and watching her play softball at both Lake Fenton High School and Alma College. She also was very supportive of her grandchildren as they played in various sporting events.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Brian (Lisa) Nordin; daughter, Kathryn (Eric) Wood; grandchildren, Niklas (Brooke) Nordin, Lukas Nordin, Mikah Wood, and Keegan Wood; sister Nina Krause.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Allen and Bertha Fiser (Hays) Younkin; and her brother-in-law, Bill Krause. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
