Mavis (Gail) Grow

GROW, Mavis (Gail) - Age 89, of Burton, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Gail's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Gerald Woodruff officiating. Burial in Maple Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Old Fashioned Baptist Church, Vernon, MI, her home church. Gail was January 18, 1936 in Senath, MO, the daughter of Lawrence and Rose (Wilkins) Smithwick. She was a 1953 graduate of Senath High School in Senath, MO. She was employed at Smith-Bridgeman's and late at Bill and Martha's Hillbilly Corner's. She married James Cook in 1955 and they had three children. Shonna Winn and James "Bo" Cook, both now deceased. Surviving daughter, Belinda (Tom) White of Davison. Gail remarried in 1977 to Howard Grow and loved their farm in Durand. She has several grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her Granny Grow. Gail is also survived by her sister, Rosemund Adkerson of St. Charles, MO. She was preceded in death by husband's, James Cook and Howard Grow; daughter, Shonna Winn; son, James "Bo" Cook; granddaughter, Krystle Darling; grandson, Elliot Winn; sisters, Dorothy Haynes and Vivian Joiner; brother, Edmund Smithwick.
