Melvin Leo Vickroy

VICKROY, Melvin Leo - Age 90 of Fenton, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on September 13, 2023.  A funeral will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Linden Free Methodist Church located at 13274 Linden Road, Linden, Michigan with Pastor John Price officiating. Interment and military honors, will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2023, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday, September 17, 2023 and at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Melvin to the Linden Free Methodist Church.

Melvin was born on February 26, 1933 in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Ross Lee and Pearl Pearlie (Roberts) Vickroy.  He attended Beaverton High School, served our country with the United States Army before working as a Die Setter for 31 years at General Motors where he retired in 1987. He was a member of the Linden Free Methodist Church and the Linden VFW.  Melvin enjoyed deer hunting, playing golf and bowling.  He bowled a "300 Game" in 1990 and scored two "hole-in-one's" during his years playing golf

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Grace E.; children, Ronald (Rita) Vickroy of New York; Lucinda Heiser of Leota; and Kevin (Donna) Vickroy of Montana. step-children, Dianne (Douglas) Jordan of Linden and Debra (Timothy) Myers of Fenton; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Lula Carroll; Vernie (Nate) Stout); and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hurd.

Mr.Vickory was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Anna May Stimer in 1976; son, Gerald in 1976; stepson, Daniel Hurd; brothers, LV; Don; Lawrence; Robert; and John; sister, Nancy Eileen; brother-in-law, Arlin Carroll.
