In Loving Memory of Mersed Joseph Zuniga
Mersed Joseph Zuniga, age 58, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026. He was born on March 16, 1968, to Cecilio Zuniga Jr. and Eva (Garcia) Zuniga.
Mersed grew up in Lennon, Michigan, and attended Swartz Creek High School, where he enjoyed participating in wrestling and football. Throughout his life, he was a hardworking and dedicated man who owned stores and managed businesses. He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
Mersed found joy in the simple things in life—fishing, spending time with his family, and making memories with his children. He had a remarkable gift for remembering the most interesting and obscure facts, making him exactly the kind of person everyone wanted on their team during trivia night. His knowledge, quick wit, and unique sense of humor brought smiles and laughter to those around him.
Above all, Mersed cared deeply for others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, and his generosity and kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mersed leaves behind his three beloved children, Winter (Eric) Thibeault (Zuniga), Mersed Zuniga Jr., and Mateo Zuniga, who will carry his love and memories with them always.
He is also survived by his siblings, Cecilio (Tracy) Zuniga III, Robin Zuniga, Eva (Dennis) Graham, and Krisanto (Autumn) Zuniga, along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio Zuniga Jr. and Eva Zuniga, as well as Mersed Pedro Zuniga and Julie Zuniga.
Mersed will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter he brought, the kindness he showed, and the love he gave so freely. May all who knew him find comfort in remembering the good times, the lessons he shared, and the lasting mark he left on the lives of those he loved.
Rest peacefully, Mersed. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever be a part of your family.
