FOLEY, Michael Joseph -- formerly of Fenton and Durand, died January 1, 2014 in Hudson, Ohio at the age of 75 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Fr. Dwight Ezop celebrant. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday with a 7 PM Rosary at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, and 10-11 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations accepted in Michael's name can be made to your local Hospice or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. Born in Fenton, Michigan, to Victor Aloysius Foley and Mary Ann (Clinton) Foley, "Mike" touched the lives of countless others with his dry wit and homespun charm. He raised a family of four with his wife, Carol, in Durand, Michigan where he worked as a Tool and Die Journeyman at the Chevrolet V-8 plant in Flint. He was an avid sportsman, with a love of fishing, bowling, baseball and golf. After retirement in 1990 Mike, with his dear partner Sheila Cach, spent many happy years on Martiny Lake in northern Michigan and then Sun City, Arizona, where they kept a home near his brother Bernard and his sister Barb. His last years were spent surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Victor (Daniel), William and Bernard and sister Barbara. He is survived by Tim and Terri Foley of Grand Rapids, MI, Tom and Geri Foley of Chicago, IL, Margo and John Barber of Lansing, MI and Denise and Alex McAllister of Hudson, OH as well as five grandchildren, Keenan, Emily, Abby, Andie and Aaron, he leaves behind many family members and friends.
