Michael Kernen

KERNEN, Michael Todd - Age 61, of Clio, formerly of Fenton, died Sunday, January 9, 2022. Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Michael's life will be held this spring. Those desiring may make contributions to Adopt-A-Pet, 13575 Fenton Road, Fenton, MI 48430.

Mike was born November 8, 1960 in Flint, the son of Donald Kernen and Shirley Hopkins. He was a 1979 graduate of Fenton High School and he attended Eastern Michigan University. He enjoyed and was a successful wrestler, starting in 6th grade and continued through his senior year, (and EMU) taking 1st place in a state championship in high school. He enjoyed mountain biking, sailing, woodworking, and summers spent with his family on Case's Island for many years.

Surviving are: his siblings, Julie (John) Maloney and their son, Shane and Shawn Moleski and his daughter's, Robin and Mariah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Moleski; father, Donald Kernen; stepfather, Robert VanAuken, Sr.; brother, Robert VanAuken, Jr.; and family friend, Jack Batson.
