Michael Schurig

SCHURIG, Michael Robert -- Age 73, of Flint, died June 8, 2016. Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 23 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22 from 10 AM- 8 PM at the funeral home where a 6 PM American Legion service will be held. Those desiring may make contributions to an organization that benefits disabled veterans. Michael was born June 5, 1943 in Detroit the son of Earl and Geraldine (Betzing) Schurig. He graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and Lawrence Tech with a Masters Degree. He married Lois Bettinger on January 4, 1968 in New Hampshire. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the Swartz Creek VFW, American Legion, 10 year Member of the Honor Guard, and their post service officer. Michael is survived by his wife Lois; son, Steven; grandchildren, Alexandria, Jack, Taylor, Kelsie; brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, Kenny, and Dickie; sisters, Marilyn, Jeanette, Patsy, Mary, and Geri; many nieces and nephews.
