Michael K. Williams

Michael K. Williams, age 74, of Daphne, Alabama, formerly of Fenton and Flint, passed away on May 12, 2026. Mike was born on June 6, 1951, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Kenneth and Geraldine (Darling) Williams. On November 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Lang, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two children, Kellie and Troy Michael, who preceded him in death in 2004 at the age of 29.

Mike retired from General Motors/Delphi Corporation after 32 years of dedicated service. Beginning his career there in 1976, he held many management positions and earned the respect and admiration of those who worked alongside and under him. Never one to slow down, Mike began a second career after retiring in 2011, joining KMI Road Maintenance as Superintendent of Operations in the asphalt and concrete industry. He truly enjoyed mentoring younger employees and helping them grow into the best versions of themselves. Mike retired fully in 2021.

He and Sue also owned and operated Barking Babes Pet Boutique in Fenton for many years.

Although he worked hard throughout his life, Mike always made time to enjoy it. For 15 years, he and Sue kept their beloved Chris-Craft Double Cabin boat, Absolute Fun, docked in East Tawas on Lake Huron, where they formed countless lifelong friendships. Mike had a way of making everyone feel comfortable. He was simply a genuinely kind, easygoing man who was loved by all who knew him.

In 2015, Mike and Sue purchased their first motorhome and headed to the Florida Keys for the winter. That adventure sparked years of winter travels, many of which were spent in Fort Myers, Florida, until Mike became ill in 2024. Along the way, they met many wonderful friends, including their dear friends, Bob and Sandy Nunn of Kentucky and dear friends and neighbors, Todd and Colleen Tucker and their family.

Mike was a devoted Michigan State fan from childhood and especially loved Spartan football and basketball. He took great pride in his son Troy’s accomplishments, particularly his education at Michigan State University and Wayne State University Mortuary School, where he became a funeral director.

Over the years, Mike enjoyed many hobbies and passions. He was an avid deer hunter and spent many memorable seasons at his best friend Art’s deer camp in Skanee, Michigan. He was also an accomplished golfer who played several nights a week for many years. In retirement, however, Mike humorously decided golf was no longer for him after having to tee off from the women’s tees.

Mike also took tremendous pride in maintaining the best lawn in the neighborhood. While that came easily in Michigan, he quickly learned that keeping a perfect lawn in Daphne, Alabama, was an entirely different challenge, much to his frustration. He was also well known for his smoked spareribs, his signature dish at family gatherings, often declared by family and friends to be the best ribs they had ever tasted.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Suzanne; his daughter, Kellie; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his two cherished Shih Tzus, Maggie Mae and Ivie Leigh, who greeted him each morning with unconditional love.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He touched the lives of so many with his kindness, humor, and generosity, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Funeral services were held in Alabama. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
