OKENKA, Mildred Barbara - Age 99, of Lennon, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A graveside service has been held. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to CurePSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).
Mildred was born October 31, 1925 in Swartz Creek, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Pafka) Trubiro. She was a 1943 graduate of Mary Crapo High School in Swartz Creek. She married Joseph J. Okenka June 5, 1948 in Swartz Creek and he preceded her in death May 11, 2002. She had resided in Lennon since 1948 coming from Swartz Creek. Mildred had worked at AC and Chevrolet during WW II. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, cake decorating, writing poetry, playing cards, going to the casino's and most of all spending time with her family. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are: her children, Linda (Joel) Bolter of Swartz Creek, Jerry (Denise) Okenka of Swartz Creek, Randy (Judy) Okenka of Lennon, Jim Okenka of Flint Township and David (Shue Sohegian) of Lennon; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Candace Bolter; brothers, Joe and Ed Trubiro; and sisters, Henrietta, Ann, Rosie, Irene and Marion. Tribute may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
