M. John Kaufherr

KAUFHERR, M. John – Age 76, Flushing, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, with his family at his side.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm .  John was born on February 9, 1943, in Gulfport, Mississippi, the son of Morton and Evelyn (Kennedy) Kaufherr.  John was a 1961 Graduate of Flint Central High School, where he was Captain of the Varsity Swim Team.  He went on to attend Murray State University, and later served with the Army Reserves.  John started work at the age of 12, alongside his father at Leff’s House of Bedding.  After Leff’s burned in 1979, John was employed as a Sales Representative for Riegle Press, where he retired after over 30 years of service.  John had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes.  His passion was golf, and he loved to play in tournaments, scrambles, or just a friendly round with friends and family.   Surviving are:  sons, Marcus J. (Jennifer) Kaufherr of Flushing, Ryan M. Kaufherr of Lapeer, daughter, Brianne L. (fiancée Andrew Maas) of Flushing; grandsons, Jacob M. and Lucas G. Kaufherr, both of Lapeer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Morton and Evelyn Kaufherr.  Tributes may be shared on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
