This a tribute to Morris Paul Berg 1921-2012, Age 91, Lapeer, Michigan The Universe has lost an exceptional man, Morris Paul berg, fondly referred to as Moe by those closest to him, passed away Sunday December 9th 2012. He was born November 24, 1921 in Lead, South Dakota; the son of George and Bertha Berg. He graduated from Romeo High School and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Morris served as staff sergeant/armorer gunner on the B-24 Liberator with the 20th reconnaissance squadron in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in World War II. He retired from Flint, Buick General Motors and resided in Lapeer. He is survived by sister, Virginia (Carl) Carlson of Michigan, Nieces and Nephews; Charles (Julie) DeArmond of Michigan, Julie DeArmond of Arizona and a very special nephew Bijan Maleki of Arizona, Curt (Dawn) Carlson of North Carolina, Kim (Nacole) Carlson of Michigan, Duane (Caroline) Carlson of California, Clint (Patricia) Carlson of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his sister Marian Berg Whitney, his nieces Sandra DeArmond Freeland of Australia and Virgina DeArmond of Michigan and his friend Robert Porter. Morris was a man of depth and substance a true philanthropist and libertarian staunchly supporting civil liberties and the arts. Loving humanity and being a strong proponent of dignity and respect for all mankind. He had a spark for the arts most especially music and literature, loved science, history, nature and was an authentic animal whisperer. He recently stated; "In this life it is not what you have acquired or accumulated but rather what you have contributed to the Betterment of the world and your brethren"; "each of us has the responsibility to make the world a greater place in this there is no greater gift of self-return..", in closure to use his favorite words onward and upward.
