Neil Jerry McPhee

Neil Jerry McPhee, age 85, of Fenton, Michigan passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025.

Neil was born on October 11, 1940 in Detroit, the son of Gordon McPhee and Eunice (Reno) McPhee-Pallas. He graduated from Garden High School in Garden, Michigan and received a Bachelor of Education at Central Michigan University in 1964 and a Master of Education Administration at Michigan State University in 1968. He married Bertha "Belle" Varley on February 26, 1966 in Muskegon, Michigan. He had a 41-year career in education and retired from Fenton Area Public Schools as the principal of the middle school after 29 years of service.

Neil was devoted to his family and to helping others. He enjoyed running, traveling, and spending time in the woods, particularly on the Garden Peninsula in Northern Michigan.

Surviving are: his wife of 59 years, Belle of Fenton, MI; son, Gregory McPhee (Kelly Huang) of Miami, FL; daughter, Teresa McPhee of Denver, CO; grandson, Patrick McPhee of Miami, FL; sister, Jerrlyn (Lee) Potvin of Garden, MI; brother, Lonnie (Barb) McPhee of Garden, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon McPhee and Eunice McPhee-Pallas; and brothers, Gordon Jr. and Randall McPhee.

The family will celebrate his life with a small, private gathering in the spring of 2026 in Garden, MI.
