Nelson Wendell BURLESON

BURLESON, Nelson Wendell - Age 90, of Swartz Creek/Flushing, died October 22, 2013. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or Flushing Area Senior Facility Foundation. Nelson was born February 17, 1923 in Swartz Creek, the son of Guy Nelson and Inabel (Jessop) Burleson. He retired from General Motors in 1977. Mr. Burleson was a member of F.F.A. in High School and was a farmer before going to work at GM in 1947. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing Euchre and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a past member of the Flushing Senior Center. Surviving are: daughters, Betty Lynn (Larry) Sheteron, Brenda (Jeff) Cookingham; daughter-in-law, Kathy Burleson; step-children, Norman (Sue) Petersen, Donna (Dan) Foster, Beverly (Fred) Henige; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
