Neoma Taylor

d. April 1, 2023

Neoma Frances Taylor of Lennon, MI passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2023. A Visitation will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, June 9, 2023 until the time of the Celebration of Life at 1PM at Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Online condolences can be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.

Neoma was born to Howard and Almida Blankenship in Lewisburg, West Virginia, April 1936. Neoma was devoted to her faith and family, was an intelligent, motivated and independent woman who remained a faithful Christian her entire life, sharing her beliefs with her family and friends.

She met and married Joe Taylor of Quinnwood, West Virginia in 1954 who preceded her in death in 2015. Together they had a large family of 5 daughters and 3 sons. Even through their trials and tribulations they were able to cultivate a family full of unity, laughter, family values and love for one another.

Neoma had a love for gardening, canning, sewing and learning new things. In her early years she was known to “put in and put up” a huge garden to help supplement the family grocery bill. Or, more than once you could find her at the sewing machine making or mending clothes, drapes or quilts when everyone went to bed just to find her still sewing when everyone woke up.

Neoma always remembered her roots and wasn’t afraid to take off with her younger children to go “back home” to West Virginia to see her mom and various family members. She was a continual learner always exploring better health products and couldn’t wait to share them with her family which was sometimes to our chagrin. She loved learning about history especially American History, how the United States government worked and continued to take online classes through Hillsdale College until the age of 85.

Neoma was preceded in death by her infant son Ky Allen Taylor, daughters Paula Eckstein and Mary Jo Taylor and great-grandson Clyde VanEnkevort. She is survived by her children, Joe Taylor of Vernon, Sandra (Patrick) Donohue of Grand Ledge, Melissa Taylor of Lansing, Charla (Ron) Nelson of Cumming, GA and Tom Taylor of Burton, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

We know that God is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms, where she belongs. She will be missed by those on earth.
