Norman Mckindles, Sr.

August 24, 1944 — December 25, 2019

Norman P. McKindles, Sr. was born August 24th, 1944 in Detroit Michigan and passed away after a couple of years of health issues at his home in Swartz Creek, MI December 25, 2019, at Age 75.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Norman E. and Alice J. McKindles and one sister. He is survived by his 4 children, Rocky (Susan) McKindles of Neptune Beach, FL, Thomas McKindles of Grosse Pointe, MI, Robb (Jenny) McKindles of Bradenton, FL and Kristin (Jasen) Shore of Holly, MI. His only daughter and baby brother, “Danny Boy” was there to take care of him through some of his toughest days. There are no words to express the love and gratitude he had for both of them during this very tough time!
He has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and is also survived by 3 siblings with Daniel J. McKindles (Lynn) of Pinckney, MI being his best friend and always there for him. He has so many nieces and nephews, too many to name but he adored each one of them in his own boisterous, unfiltered manner which was his own way of showing his love for each and every one of his family members.  Norm was known far and wide for his art of spinning a yarn.

Norm was a corpsman in the Navy and served in Vietnam on the USS Navarro. His careers were in the Michigan school systems; first the facilities manager at Canton High and then Central Michigan University. He retired from the MI school system and moved to FL for some sun and fun where he enjoyed golf and boating until he went back to work again at the Cloisters of Atlantic Beach, FL as their "man who could do everything". And that was his gift; he could fix, build, create or cook anything and loved testing his culinary skills by sharing this with his family.
He knew how to push the right buttons to get a person all riled up and then just watch in anticipation of how one would react - and then laugh about it because it was always in good fun.  He was a prankster, he was a hard worker, he was a sweet talker to the ladies and he loved the outdoors - especially hunting. He was tough but also full of mush. Strong and commanding but could also be tender and very sensitive. I don’t think he always knew how to express it but he loved his family immensely and we loved him. RIP Normy - you will be missed!

At Norm’s request, his cremated remains will be honored and celebrated in the spring during turkey season - his favorite time of year. Arrangements have been handled by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
