EISTER, Ona Marie - Age 93, of Flint, died Thursday, June 29, 2017. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10AM, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint. Fr. Anthony Strause celebrant. Burial to follow in Reed Cemetery, Laingsburg. Visitation will be held 6PM-8PM Monday July 3, 2017, with a vigil service 7PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will also be held 9AM until time of mass at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Carmen Ainsworth Senior Center. Ona was born June 2, 1924 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Wyn A. and Beulah M. (VanVelzor) Gerow. She married Denton B. Eister in Monterey CA on November 27, 1943 he preceded her in death on January 20, 1993. Ona graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1942 and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and former member of the St. Agnes Altar Society. She was a very active volunteer and board member at Carmen Ainsworth Senior Center. She also enjoyed line dancing and crafting. Surviving are: sons, Denton (Karen) Eister Jr. of WA, Jim (Barbara) Eister of Durand; grandchildren, Jason (Susie) Eister of VA, Brian Eister of FL, Brooke (Robert) Cascio of FL, Traci (Jason) Eister-Woods of Chase MI ;great grandchildren, Faith Woods, Luke, Alex, Max, Nikolai Eister. Ona is also survived by sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Brown of TN, Patricia Gilbert of NJ; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Terrance Eister and brother, Jerry Gerow.
