Paul Kimsel, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication.
He proudly retired from General Motors, where he spent his career as a skilled tradesman. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his craft and in providing for his family.
One of his greatest passions was baseball. For more than 50 years, he dedicated his time to coaching, sharing not only his love of the game but also his knowledge, patience, and life lessons with generations of young players. To him, coaching was about much more than baseball—it was about teaching teamwork, commitment, character, and the importance of being a good person. The impact he made on the players and families he encountered throughout those many years will live on.
He was also a lifelong University of Michigan football fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Wolverines. Saturdays were meant for Michigan football, family, and making memories.
When he wasn’t working or coaching, he enjoyed restoring old cars and attending Back to the Bricks, where he could admire classic automobiles and share stories with fellow car enthusiasts. His love of old cars reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and the joy of bringing something special back to life.
Above all, he was a family man. He was a devoted husband who cherished his wife and a loving father who was always there for his children. He took great pride in being a grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family was the greatest source of joy in his life. His love, guidance, humor, and stories will be treasured by the many generations who were fortunate enough to call him husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol; Children Steven Kimsel, Lara (Pete) Alexander, JoAnne (Chris) Zofchak; Grandchildren Savannah, Emma, Ryan, Hunter, Abigayle (Ty), Brady, Aubrey; Great grandchildren Ella and Carter; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will continue to live on through his family, his former players, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His greatest legacy was not what he built or accomplished, but the people he loved and the lives he helped shape. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
