Paul Petty, Jr.

PETTY, Paul E., Jr. - age 81, of Davison passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday and 12 PM - 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fenton Alumni Association or the Fenton Fire Fighters Charity. Mr. Petty was born February 20, 1933 in Flint, the son of Paul E. and Marjorie H. (MacFarlen) Petty. He was a 1951 graduate of Fenton High School where he enjoyed and excelled in baseball, basketball and football. He attended Western Michigan University where he also played baseball and football. Mr. Petty was the head bartender at the Fenton Hotel from 1957-1964. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the City of Fenton in the 1960s and 1970s. Paul was employed at General Motors - Metal Fabrication as a Statistician from 1964 until his retirement in 1991. He married Jeanne Donahue on August 13, 1982 and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2013. Surviving are: children, Brian (Sheila) Petty of Fenton, Carla Sanford of Grand Blanc, Jana Petty of Fenton; grandchildren, Todd (Alyce) Petty, Lauren (Brian) Petersen, Jordan Carpenter, Jacob and Makenzie Sanford, Murphy and Spencer Jameyson; six great-grandchildren; step-children, Joe (Virginia) Shifflett of Santee, CA, Rebecca Schmidt of Fenton; step-grandchildren, Regina (Brett) Stadler, Rachel (Eric) Weber, Corey (Chelsea) Schmidt and Casey Schmidt.
