Pedro (Pete) Berlanga, age 90, of Flint, Michigan passed away on Friday February 27, 2026 at his home. Pedro was born on December 28, 1935 to Onofre and Aurelia (Vargas) in Bryan, TX. He married Julia Ramos on March 9th, 1963, and had three children, Nicolas (Nick), Monica, and Lorenzo.
Pedro proudly served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked as a Tool and Die Maker at the Flint V8 Engine Plant for 47 years. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, playing baseball and softball, and spending time with his family, including his 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pedro was also a life-long advocate for helping others and volunteered at numerous organizations including; Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, youth softball, The Spanish Speaking Information Center, The GI Forum, and most recently at the Luna Martis Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife Julia; his three children, Rev. Nicolas (Tara) Berlanga, Monica Jackson Sr. Eng., and Dr. Lorenzo (Jennifer) Berlanga; former daughter-in-law Juanita; two sisters, Mona Ortega and Oralia Gonzales; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan), Zachary, Victoria (James), Zane, Alyssa (Lee), Theo, Mari (Aaron), Wren, Sof, and Adey; and fifteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws; Rosa (Ramiro) Lambaria, Lucia (Vicente) Pacheco; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ononfre and Aurelia; siblings, Sam, Joe, Domingo, Pablo, Dora, Janie, and Arturo; sister-in-law Aurora Salinas, and daughter-in-law Lisa Berlanga.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Flint on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary said at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 starting at 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Pedro will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, with Military Honors, at 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pedro’s name to the Luna Martis Food Pantry.
