Penny Lou VanArsdale

Penny Lou VanArsdale, age 65, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at McLaren Flint. Funeral ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time-of-service Wednesday. 

Penny was born on August 12, 1960 in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School, class of 1978. Penny worked in customer service for several years with Arby’s and Kroger’s. She will be remembered as a caring mother to her family and loving mother to everyone she came in contact with. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting rocks and anything containing wolves.

She is survived by her son, Ron (Chrystal) Sparks; grandchildren, Savannah Rasmussen, Makayla Sparks, McKenzie Sparks and Brandon Rasmussen; two great-granddaughters, Layla Jackson and Abriella Green; stepfather, Brenard Kondel; three sisters, Vicky Gray, Tammy Norris and Cindy (Gary) Francis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Penny was preceded in death by her father, Edward VanArsdale; mother, Elizabeth Kondel; stepmother, June Kondel; and brother, George VanArsdale. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
