Peter "Pete" Barrera

Peter "Pete" Barrera- Age 76, of Swartz Creek, passed away July 7, 2026. Visitation will be held from 4PM – 8PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes- Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, with a rosary being prayed at 7PM. Private interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Pete was born on July 13, 1949, in Flint, Michigan to the late Pedro R. and Manuela Barrera. Pete served in the U.S. Army and later retired from General Motors where he worked in Skilled Trades. He was a massive University of Michigan fan and loved playing golf. He loved his grandchildren and supported every one of their sports. He never missed a game and always made sure they made it to junior golf.

Pete is survived by his wife Julie (Holmes) Barrera; children Greg (Chandra) Pattinson and Stacie Elliott; grandchildren Brian Knack, Daniel Pattinson, Kaitlyn Bader, Emma Bader and Hannah Bader; sister Mary Louise Elizondo; brothers Ernie Barrera and Danny Barrera; special nephew Jose (Caroline) Capuchina; brothers-in-law Jose (Violet) Capuchina and Pat (Jennie) Holmes; sister-in-law Kathy Holmes; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tony Delgado and Raymond Delgado; sisters Sally Guerra and Esperanza Capuchina; and brother-in-law Frank Holmes.
