Philip Barette

BARETTE, Philip M. - Age 74, of Flint Twp., died suddenly March 25, 2017 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia I.C.U of a massive stroke. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Monday and from 10 AM until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Gift of Life or Swartz Creek Am Vets Honor Guard. Phil was born May 12, 1942 in Flint, the son of Mearle and Velma (Warren) Barette. He married Rhonda L. Gaines Beutel on June 9, 1979. Philip was a veteran of the US Army serving post Korean War. He attended Mott Community College and was a Master Electrician. Phil retired from G.M. Truck and Bus in January 1993. He was a member of Swartz Creek American Legion Post #294, Am Vets Post #3720 Honor Guard and I.B.E.W. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and following the Detroit Tigers and UofM Football. Phil was a Gift of Life Liver Recipient on June 1, 2005 and in death he was able to give four people eye sight through the Gift of Life. Surviving are his loving wife, Rhonda; children, David (Heather) Barette, Kim (Wes Kennedy) Barette, Jeff (Amy) Beutel and Erin (Clint Shields) Byrd; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Jack) Cook; mother-in-law, Dorothy Gaines; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law,Jonnie (John) Clemmer; brother-in-law,Jerry Gaines, and his beloved cat "Sam." He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Lee Gaines; brother, Michael Barette; and his beloved cats "Bo" and "Mandy." A special thank you to Dr. Margni, Dr. R. Peddireddy, Dr. Wadenstorer, Dr. Amlani, and Dr. Ramaiyah, and Carol Hendrix from DaVita Dialysis.
