PUTMAN, Ralph LeRoy - Age 86, of Flint, died Saturday, July 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Brother John Henson officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and Tuesday from 12 PM until the time of service. Ralph was born June 2, 1927 in Flint, the son of John Edward and Bertha Maude (Helland) Putman. He married Lillian Jones February 14, 1948 in Flint at the Zimmerman Street Church of Christ. He served as an elder at Grand Blanc Church of Christ. He also served as an elder, treasurer, and deacon at the W. Carpenter Road Church of Christ in Flint for 32 years. He was on the Board of Directors at Valley Christian Academy and retired due to ill health. Ralph graduated from Flint Northern High School and continued his education with Deforest Training Institute in Chicago, IL, graduating with a First Class Certificate as a Radio/TV Electronic Operator. He served in the United States Army stationed in Korea with the position of Tech 4. Ralph and Lillian owned and operated Putman's TV on Flushing Road, retiring in February, 1990. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and woodworking. The highlight of his life was a trip to Alaska in 1991. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lillian (Jones) Putman; daughters; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, parents, and a brother.
