Raymond Anderson

ANDERSON Raymond Andrew -- Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died at Western Hills Living, January 3, 2017. Services will be held 1 PM Saturday January 7 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8497 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. Pastor Joyce Johnston officiating. Visitation will be 12 PM until time of service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Raymond A. Anderson Memorial Fund. Raymond was born November 29, 1938 in Ishpeming, the son of Nels and Hilma (Peterson) Anderson. He resided in Swartz Creek since 1967 coming from Ishpeming. He graduated from Negaunee High School in 1956. Raymond married Deanna R. Johns on June 11, 1960 in Ishpeming. He was employed at Michigan Department of Transportation retiring in 1992 with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, reading, golfing, and camping. He loved to travel and he had been to every state except Alaska. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Deanna of Swartz Creek; children, Lynn (Robert) Apple of Marquette, Greg (Char) Anderson of Perry, Steve Anderson of Flint; grandchildren, Casey Apple, Kayla (Trever) Kruzel, and Raymie and Jessie Anderson; brother, James Anderson of Negaunee; niece Lisa (Ted) Miller of Nagaunee. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Oscar Anderson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Vicky and Chris Kelly and their caregivers at Western Hills Living and the staff at Heartland Hospice.
