Raymond D. Dodge, age 87, of Byron, Michigan, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 in Lecanto, FL due to complications from Parkinsons and pneumonia. Ray was born on November 3, 1937 to Ralph and Agnes Dodge in Flint, Michigan. He attended Beecher High School in Flint and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ray retired in 2004 from GM Service Parts Operations after 47 years. He met Jean Pearce Tata on Feb. 28, 1987 and they were married on Feb. 28, 2004.
They enjoyed many years of camping and trail riding with their horses and with various horse clubs, also playing cards and dominoes. Ray and Jean became snowbirds after purchasing a home in Inverness, Florida and transported their horses back and forth from Michigan to Florida, to ride in the Withlacoochee Forest with other Michigan snowbird friends.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, sister Betty and brothers George and Kenneth. He is survived by his devoted wife Jean Dodge, and sons Ray of Fenton, MI and Garlen of Chicago, and step-children Randy Tata and Lynne Pifher (Jeff) and some cousins, nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Ray's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service Saturday. The celebration of life will continue with lunch following the service at 12:30 PM Saturday at Sam’s Italian Restaurant, 4105 Grand Blanc Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473.
