Rhesa Ethel Alexander

March 12, 1907 — June 18, 2003

ALEXANDER, Rhesa Ethel  Age 96, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. David E. Ray officiating. Interment will be held at Bristol Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday and 1-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the South Mundy United Methodist Church or Genesys Hospice. Rhesa was born in Rankin, Michigan on March 12, 1907 to Roy and Nettie (Tupper) Spillane. She grew up in Flint Township. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1925 then went to County Normal. Rhesa taught school at ODell and Mary Crapo Schools. She married John R. Alexander in 1928. He preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Alexander was a member of South Mundy United Methodist Church, where she played piano for the Sunday School until March of this year. She was a member of UMW and the Third Thursday Ladies. She loved to make rugs, write letters, play the piano, and cook. Surviving are: eight children, Ruth (Ray) Smith, Bob Alexander, Judy (Jerry) Parsons, Ted (Ellen) Alexander, Bernetta Alexander, all of Swartz Creek, Viola (Hayes) Holboth of Fowlerville, John (Jo Ann) Alexander of Durand, Rose Carnes and Rhesa (Tom) Watrous, all of Linden; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beulah Spillane; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Alexander was also preceded in death by: daughter, Helen Alexander; son, Eugene Alexander; grandson, Tom Holboth; her parents; three sisters; and one brother.
