Richard Behm

BEHM, Richard James Age 79, of Grand Blanc, MI, while surrounded by his family, passed peacefully from this world on July 27, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Flint. The family will greet visitors at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dick's memory to The Alzheimer's Association of Genesee County. Richard (Dick) was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 7, 1937. He was the son of Clarence and Helen Behm. He was a loving and selfless husband, father, and grandfather. Dick graduated from the University of Michigan Business School and Law School and served his community with integrity and honor as an attorney for 52 years. He served as president of the Genesee County Bar Association, as well as formed and sat on numerous Bar Association committees. He was instrumental in the establishment of legal aid of Eastern Michigan and cared deeply about providing high-quality legal representation to all citizens. Dick was passionate about education and youth, and coached youth hockey for a decade and taught business law as an adjunct professor at U of M-Flint. Dick served many years as a trustee and elder at First Presbyterian Church of Flint. Preceded in death were his parents; and his brother, Don Behm. Dick is survived by Pat, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 57 years; his sons, Tom Behm (Mary), Jeff Behm (Mary), Mike Behm (Kay), Dan Behm (Valerie); grandchildren Steven, Morgan, Mitchell, Michael, Madison, Jack, Max, Ellie, Annie, Zoe, and Carlie; his brother, Bill Behm (Donna), and his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Behm, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
