Richard Rumsey

RUMSEY, Richard C. - of Flushing, died December 10, 2019 at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 16, 2019 at Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N. McKinley St., Flushing. Interment will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a Masonic Memorial will be held at 6 PM. Visitation will also be held from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Flushing Presbyterian Church or the Flushing Historical Society. Mr. Rumsey was born October 20, 1929 in Flushing, MI and had lived there his entire life. He was a member of the Flushing Presbyterian Church and an elder of the church. Richard was a life member of Flushing Lodge F & AM #223, member of the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple in Saginaw, and Bay City Consistory of the Scottish Rite, life member of Circus Park Shrine Club, member of Flushing Area Historical Society, Flushing Area Senior Center and Flushing Lions Club. Mr. Rumsey served in the United States Army in Germany during the European Occupation. He owned and operated Rumsey Insurance Agency, which he started in 1951 in Flushing and was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Michigan. Surviving are: daughter, Sue and husband, Wayne Springsteen; son, Jeffery Rumsey and wife, Gina; granddaughter, Katelyn Rumsey and fiancé, Stephen Ulicki; grandson, Michael Rumsey and fiancée, Kristen Long; sister, Joan Weil; several  cousins, nieces and nephews; very close family in Germany, Brigitte Jaeke, Sarah, Laura, and Doris. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Elaine Rumsey, sister, Jane Voelker; brothers-in-law, Rex Voelker and Leo Weil; and very close family in Germany, Emil and Gertrude Kunkel.
