CARMICHAEL, Richard D.  Age 57, passed away Friday, September 12, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center, after a long illness. Services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 745 E. Main St., Flushing with Rev. David G. Kulchar officiating. Visitation will be held 3-5 and 7-9 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice, Flint Junior Golf Association, Trinity Episcopal Church or the charity of ones choice. Mr. Carmichael was born April 5, 1946 in Flint. He grew up on the family farm in Clayton Township, the son of Douglas and Jean (McNally) Carmichael. He attended Swartz Creek High School, graduating in 1964. Dick served three years in the U.S. Army, spending 13 months in Korea. In 1968, he and Mary Ann Wilber were united in marriage and lived in Big Rapids until his graduation from Ferris State University. Their home has been in Flushing for many years. Dick was part-owner and Sales Manager at McNally Buick-Chevrolet dealership in Flushing until it was sold in 1996. He was a past member and director of Flushing Valley Country Club and past officer of the Greater Flint Auto Dealer Association. Surviving are: his beloved wife, Mary Ann; two sons, Todd and Brian Carmichael; his mother, Jean (McNally Carmichael) Goodyear and husband, Charles Goodyear; brother, Bill and wife, Debra Carmichael; nieces, Lisa and Karen; nephew, Douglas; two uncles, Richard McNally and wife, Shirley; Thomas McNally and wife, Sue; several cousins; sister-in-law, Susan Wilber and her family. He was preceded in death by: his father, Douglas; brother, Don; an infant son and infant daughter. Friends may share their online condolences with the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
