Richard was born on March 9, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School, class of 1964. Following his education, Richard joined the workforce and began working for GM Fisher Body. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1966, serving during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1970. Richard continued working at GM for 34 years until his retirement in 1999. He was united in marriage to Patricia Weaver in 1974 in Lancaster, Ohio. Richard was a simple family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going on family trips and spending time outdoors. Richard could always be found helping his neighbors in the home or outside, with any task needed. He was a dedicated volunteer at the Carman-Ainsworth Early Head Start for several years, and while there he was also the "grandpa" to the children in his daughter, Sarah's class.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patty; daughter, Sarah (Michael) Kildee; son, Michael (Kara) Foutz; and two grandchildren, Conor Kildee and Eliza Foutz. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Regina (Kujawa) Foutz; and brother, Paul (Shirley) Foutz. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Memory Care of Grand Blanc and the Care Team Hospice for the care and compassion the family received.
