Richard Edmund "Dick" Honaker

HONAKER, Richard Edmund "Dick" - Age 92, of Linden, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (the service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Dick's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Dawn Russell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Fenton Rotary Club.

Dick was born May 13, 1934, in Detroit, the son of Buster and Amelia (Page) Honaker. He was a 1952 graduate of Detroit Lutheran High School; and he attended the University of Detroit and Eastern Michigan University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Christa Bekemeier September 18, 1958 and she preceded him in death May 14, 1992. He had resided in Linden since 1999 coming from Westland. Dick retired in 1994 from NBD Bank. He was a 45+ year Rotarian and most recently a member of the Fenton Rotary Club. In marrying Shirley, Dick lovingly joined not just two lives, but two families. He embraced each person with an open heart, because to him, family was everything. He was, above all else, a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in those he loved.

Surviving are: wife, Shirley; son, Charles (Geri) Honaker of Fenton; step daughters, Sandra Dunnewind of Florida, Sheryl (Joseph) Moylan of Brighton, Janice (Timothy) Dziewit of South Carolina, and Mary (Matthew) Staeuble of South Carolina; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Deborah Freeman of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
