Richard J. "Dick" Wolverton

WOLVERTON, Richard J. "Dick" - Age 87, of Argentine Township, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St, Linden. Pastor Robert Lindsey officiating. Burial in Argentine Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association. 

Dick was born April 23, 1939 in Argentine Township, the son of Harry and Lucy (Brower) Wolverton. He was a 1957 graduate of Gaines High School. He married Nancy C. Hyde August 29, 1959 in Linden and she preceded him in death November 29, 2017. He had resided in Argentine Township his entire life, living in the same house for 85 years. Dick retired in 1993 from GM Proving Grounds in Milford, and he also farmed his entire life. He was a former member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and was a founding member of the Argentine Township Fire Department. He enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, spending time at his cabin in St. Helen. Dick attended more then 3000 sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are: son, Jeffrey (Christine) Wolverton; daughter, Lynette (Robert) Sheyachich; grandchildren, Matthew (Kayla) Wolverton, Steven Wolverton, Taylor (Devin) Cornell, and Sydney Sheyachich; great grandchildren, Brantley, Brody, Natalie, and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Morey and Margaret Smith; brothers, Kenneth, Harold, Donald, and Robert Wolverton. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
