BIGLER, Robert H. Â Age 98, joined The Church Triumphant on January 23, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 W. Court St., Flint, with Dr. Steven J. Buck officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Court Street United Methodist Church, Troop 31 Boy Scouts of America or Alzheimers Association. Mr. Bigler was born in Millersburg, Ohio August 23, 1905, the son of John and Louise (Jaberg) Bigler. He grew up in Orrville, Ohio and following graduation from Ohio State University, came to Flint where he worked at AC General Motors as a physicist and product engineer. A Registered Professional Engineer, he retired in 1970 with 41 years of service. He married Esther Bullard March 11, 1939 in Flint; she preceded him in death December 11, 1992. He was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, its Fellowship Class and Mens Club. He became a Boy Scout in his youth, continuing to be active in Boy Scouting upon coming to Flint. He was Scout Master of Troop 3 at Doyle School from 1929-1940, then became active with Troop 31 at Court Street Church. He received many awards and recognitions including The Silver Beaver, Wood Badge Award and God and Service Award. He was a charter member of Buckskinners and a member of Heritage Society. He was the oldest and longest registered member of Tall Pine Council. He was a member of Retired Mens Fellowship and volunteered with Love, Inc. and the North End Soup Kitchen. His hobbies included Photography, many outdoor activities and growing Bigler tomatoes from his own seed. Surviving are: son, John C. Bigler of Annandale, NJ; 3 daughters, Ruth K. and husband James E. Peterson of Flint, Beth M. Hubbell of Haslett, Jane L. and husband Bruce Beill of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren, David J. and wife Christine Peterson, Michael W. and wife Amy Peterson, Steven R. and wife Sandra Peterson, Amy, Jeff, Michael, Steven and wife Jenny Hubbell, Anne and husband Max Levenberger, Brooke and husband Andrew Pitts, Nate Sellars; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Burnett; 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bessie and Gladys Bigler; brothers-in-law, John (Eva) Bullard and James R. Burnett; son-in-law, Richard Hubbell.
