Robert Walter BUCKNAM

BUCKNAM, Robert Walter - age 95, of Fenton, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Caretel Inns of Linden. Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Bucknam was born May 8, 1917 in Augusta, Maine, the son of Donald Campbell and Mable (Cluckey) Bucknam. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving during World War II where he received two Purple Hearts and Bronze Star. Mr. Bucknam retired from General Motors in 1982 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Fenton VFW, Fenton Eagles, Howell Elks Club, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are: son, Charles "Bucky" and fiance, Linda Wykes of Fenton; two daughters, Betsy McGlauflin of Fenton, Deborah Kinney and husband, William of Haslett, MI; step-daughter, Joanne Oberhide and husband, Hal of Princeton, IL; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friend, June Mahle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; step-son, Charles Chambers; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Barnes; brother, Neal; two sisters, Helen and Margaret.
