Robert was born on May 8, 1929, in Flint, Michigan to the late Louis & Mary (Madden) Williams. He graduated from Flint Central High School, class of 1947. Throughout high school he ran track and played football. Shortly after high school he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War. Robert was employed with AC Spark Plug as a Tool and Die maker in the 29 Tool Room for 39 years before retiring in 1992. During his many years at the company, he played in men's golf leagues and golfed with the same partner for 35 years. Robert married the love of his life, Patricia Ignace on August 19, 1950, and they were blessed with their three boys; Dale, Dennis and Doug. In the early years Robert and his family enjoyed summer camping trips to Higgins Lake, these where perhaps his fondest memories. When Doug was a young teen, they took a painting class; it wouldn't be till much later in Robert's retirement that he would actually take up painting again. This was something he dappled in with acrylic on canvas or even painting birthday cards for his family. Robert took great pride in tending to his flower gardens and he loved to read especially books on history. Robert was a proud father, grandpa and great-grandpa he attended as many sporting and school events as he could. His family will miss him dearly.
Robert is survived by his three loving sons, Dale (Gayle) Williams, Dennis ( Audrey) Williams and Douglas (Karen) Williams; 7 grandchildren, Karen Williams, Tim (Rocheline) Williams, Brian (Krystal Williams, Brooke (Eric) Davey, Nicholas Williams, Jordan Williams and Jade Williams; 3 great-grandchildren, Fred, Theo and Lexi; brother, Jack (Julie) Williams and brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) Ignace.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2014; brother, Elton "Bud" (Melita) Williams; infant brother, Walter Williams; and sisters, Evelyn (Lloyd) King, Margaret (Art) Straw and Lucille (Jack) Harney.
