KERCHAERT, Robert Brooke - age 85, of Linden, died at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Memorial mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines with Fr. Jeff Poll celebrant. Family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the family, for a charity of their choice. Mr. Kerchaert was born March 15, 1927 in Walkerton, IN the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Visser) Kerchaert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Shirley Perry in 1984 in Walkerton, IN. Robert was an avid artist and his art hangs in many, many homes. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved music and playing the banjo. He retired from Chrysler, where he worked as an electrical engineer. Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Kevin (Kate) Kerchaert, Debbie (Don)Patterson, Tammy (Ken) Dallas and Jeff Hayes; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Carol) Kerchaert and numerous nieces and nephews.
